Maggie

Hi, my name is
Maggie!

And therecipesdaily is my little corner of the internet!

I started cooking out of necessity back in 2012, when I was juggling a full‑time job as a graphic designer and a newborn at home. My husband, Tom, would bring home a bag of fresh produce from the farmer’s market, and I’d scramble together something quick for dinner. One night I posted a photo of a lemon‑garlic roasted chicken on a tiny Facebook group, and the comments started pouring in. That was the spark that grew into therecipesdaily later that year.

Fast forward to today: the site launched publicly in March 2014, and it’s now a community of more than 85,000 monthly visitors. I’ve added a weekly “Meal‑Prep Monday” series, a searchable ingredient index, and even a printable “Family Favorites” cookbook that reached 12,000 downloads in 2023 alone. The most rewarding part is seeing readers send me photos of their own kitchen experiments—some of them have become regular contributors to the blog.

I live in Asheville, North Carolina, in a modest house with Tom, our two rescue dogs, and a perpetually growing herb garden on the back porch. When I’m not whisking, sautéing, or testing a new recipe, you’ll find me hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains, binge‑watching classic sitcoms, or trying to keep my plants alive (the succulents are doing better than the tomatoes). My favorite kitchen tools are a well‑seasoned cast‑iron skillet, a sturdy wooden spoon, and a vintage kitchen scale I inherited from my grandmother.

One quirky habit I have is that I always taste a dish with the same spoon I used to stir it—helps me stay grounded in the moment. If you ever swing by the blog, feel free to drop a comment or share a photo of your own version of a recipe. I love hearing how a simple idea can become a family tradition.
